Your Questions Answered

What are the different ways I can order from you?

You can either choose a ready-designed piece from the shop or request a custom order based on one of my designs — made for you in your size, with your preferred details.

How do I order a customised garment?

Just get in touch. Send me your name, email address, and a few words about what you're interested in. I’ll reply within two working days, and from there we’ll continue the conversation by email — discussing all the details, including pricing.

What’s the process for a custom order?

Once you reach out with your idea or your chosen starting point, I’ll guide you through fabric options, details, and sizing. We’ll agree on everything together, and I’ll then start making your piece.

How long will my order take?

Most orders take about 3–4 weeks from the moment we confirm everything. If I expect it to take longer, I’ll let you know upfront.

How do I send you my measurements?

You can either tell me your usual clothing size or send your own measurements — I’ll guide you through what I need and how to take them, even if you’ve never done it before.

Do I have to customise everything?

Not at all. Each garment starts with a base design — you can keep it exactly as it is, or adapt it to suit you. Some people arrive with a clear vision, others like to be guided. There’s no pressure either way.

Ordering and Customisation

How long will it take to get my order?

Each item is made to order and takes up to three weeks to sew with care. Once ready, your order will be shipped immediately. Typical delivery times after shipping are:

  • UK: 3–5 working days

  • Europe: around 7 working days

  • Rest of the world: 10–14 working days

How much is shipping?

Shipping costs depend on your location:

  • UK: £5

  • Europe: £10

  • North America £15

  • Rest of the world: £20

Do I have to pay customs or import fees?

If you’re ordering from outside the UK, please be aware that customs duties, taxes, or import fees may apply. These charges are your responsibility.

Can I get a refund on shipping?

Shipping fees are non-refundable. If you need to return an item, please contact me first. You can find more details in the Returns Policy section of this FAQ.

Is packaging eco-friendly?

Yes — I use minimal, recyclable packaging wherever I can.

What sizes do you offer?

I use this sizing chart as my guide. If your body doesn’t fit these standard sizes, please let me know. You can provide your exact measurements, and I’ll create the piece to fit you perfectly.

What if I don’t fit a standard size?

Then you’re in the right place. I can make garments in any size — just get in touch before you order so I can check that I have enough fabric for your chosen design.

I make everything one by one, with real bodies in mind.

Can I choose a different fabric?

Each garment is designed with a specific fabric in mind — usually a small-run, carefully sourced natural fibre. In most cases, that fabric is part of the design. If you’re drawn to a style but wondering about fabric options, get in touch. If alternatives are possible, I’ll let you know.

What kinds of fabrics do you use?

I mostly work with natural fibres — cotton, linen, silk, and wool — chosen for their quality, feel, and how they age over time. Whenever possible, I use deadstock or end-of-roll fabrics to reduce waste. Each piece is made with care, in limited quantities.

Can I return something if it doesn’t fit or I change my mind?

Each piece is made with care, either to order or in small batches, which means I can’t offer returns or refunds the way big brands do. But if something’s not right, let’s talk.

Please email me at contact@needleandcloth.co.uk within 14 days of receiving your package to let me know you’d like to return an item. I’ll then send you instructions.

You’ll need to post the item back with tracked shipping and email me the tracking number. Once I receive it, we can arrange a replacement item you’re happy with, or I can offer you shop credit. Your shop credit never expires and can be used on anything in the shop.

Please note that return shipping costs (including exchanges) are paid by the buyer and are non-refundable. I can’t take responsibility for lost or stolen parcels.

Which items can’t be returned or exchanged?

It is not possible to return custom orders (for example: custom lengths, personalised details, or custom fabric choices). All returned items must be in resalable condition — unworn, unwashed, and with all labels and tags still attached. I reserve the right to refuse shop credit or exchange for anything that isn’t returned in this condition. This doesn’t affect your statutory rights if the item is faulty.

What if I ordered a ready-designed piece and it doesn’t suit me?

If the item is unworn and still in resalable condition, and you contact me within 14 days of receiving it, you’re welcome to return it for shop credit. Your shop credit never expires and can be used on anything in the shop.

Returns and refunds

Can I order something as a gift for someone else?

Absolutely. A made-to-order piece can be a really meaningful gift — especially for a special occasion. We can include a note from you too.

How will I hear about new designs?

The best way to do it is to join my mailing list. I’ll send occasional updates when new pieces or fabrics become available. You can also follow me on Instagram.

Can I visit your studio?

I don’t have a studio open to the public — just two sewing machines in the corner of my bedroom! That said, if you’re based in London, it might be possible to arrange an in-person fitting for custom orders. I charge a small fee for this service to cover my time and travel. If you’re interested, just mention it when you get in touch and we’ll see what’s possible.
